Goodwill Works: Meet Aretha Wilson

Aretha Wilson came to Goodwill to get help finding a job. Though she is a kind and personable individual, she has an intellectual disability that has made finding a job difficult. When we took her for an interview at Chick-fil-A on Chapman Hwy, they liked her immediately, recognizing the spark in her personality and her desire to work.

We worked with Chick-fil-A's management to answer questions about hiring individuals with disabilities and Chick-fil-A's management prepared their staff so everyone would know how to communicate with their new hire.

Now, it's a perfect fit! Aretha loves her new job and the staff at Chick-fil-A say that they've already grown to love and depend on her.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Join us in celebrating the contributions of workers with disabilities. Learn more about National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
