This Black Friday, Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc. is offering customers a less-traditional way to save money. All 28 regional Goodwill stores will offer 50% off everything in stock from 1-5pm, encouraging customers to sleep in and relax the day after Thanksgiving.

“This is our second year hosting the sleep-in sale, and our shoppers seem to really like it,” said Goodwill Industries-Knoxville’s Director of Marketing, Erin Rosolina. “Not only do they get to sleep in, but they are offered an alternative to box-store shopping.”

According to the National Retail Federation, shoppers spent an average of $299.60 on Black Friday weekend in 2015. Goodwill hopes to offer an alternative shopping solution, offering clothes, toys, books, electronics and other household goods at a fraction of the price.

In addition to offering a wide variety of potential gifts for the whole family, shopping at Goodwill can spread the holiday cheer throughout the year. Funds raised in Goodwill retail stores support job training programs and employment services for individuals with barriers to employment.

Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc. serves 15 counties in East Tennessee; last year, they were able to provide vocational services to 4,124 individuals. Programs include Certified Nursing Assistant training, computer training, supported employment, school-to-work programs, career planning for young adults, placement services and beyond. “It’s shopping you can feel good about,” said Rosolina.
